Maulers split exhibition games against Trojans

SMAAAHL teams are getting ready for the regular season, and have wrapped up their exhibition games. The Yorkton RawTec Maulers ended its exhibition season with two games against the Tisdale Trojans, one in Tisdale and one at home in Yorkton.

SMAAAHL teams are getting ready for the regular season, and have wrapped up their exhibition games. The Yorkton RawTec Maulers ended its exhibition season with two games against the Tisdale Trojans, one in Tisdale and one at home in Yorkton. The team split the games, losing in Tisdale but winning at home. 

 

In the first game in Tisdale, it was the Maulers who got on the board first, with an unassisted goal by Zach McIntyre. That was followed by Tisdale scoring twice, once on a power play.

 

The second period saw two more power play goals by Tisdale, but Yorkton came back with a power play goal by Ryder Pierson with an assist by Aiden Bulych. The Maulers then scored again with Zach McIntyre’s second goal of the night, assisted by Cashe Stevenson and Josh Bear.

 

The Maulers then tied it up in the third, with a goal from Ryder Pierson with an assist from Aiden Bulych, pushing it into overtime. Tisdale, however, took the game in a shootout after there was not any scoring in the fourth period.

 

The second game of the weekend saw the Maulers ensure that the Trojans didn’t gain the upper hand. They again started the scoring, with two goals in the first. Those were by Colby Vranai with assists from Ryder Pierson and Aiden Bulych and by Beau Stevenson with assists from Matt Millette and  Tanner Hoffman. 

 

They continued scoring into the second, starting with Aiden Bulych with assists from Colby Vranai and Jake Huska, continuing with Zach McIntyre with assists from Beau Stevenson and Matt Millette. The Trojans did get on the board after that, however, with a goal from Connor Hayward. 

 

Tisdale also scored twice in the third, but that did not make a difference, because the Maulers scored three times, with goals from Aiden Bulych, Josh Bear with assists from Danton LeHeureux and Ty Kotylak and Dawson Springer with Zach McIntyre getting the assist. The final score was 7-3.

The start of the regular season will see the Maulers meeting the Trojans again, once in Tisdale and once at home. Next home action is September 23 at the Farrell Agencies Arena.
