The McSweeney's Selects and the Sask. Volleyball Association U15 volleyball team hosted the recent ASCICS Cup 1 Under 15 girls' volleyball tournament in Yorkton.

Tournament coordinator, Selects head coach Brent Brown, says 16 teams from all over the province were in the city for the U16 women's division tournament. This age category looks like it will probably be every competitive, says Brown.

The Selects played reasonably well over the weekend, Brown suggests. He admits the girls have a few things they will need to work on in practise but they're showing constant improvement. "As a coach that's all you can ask for," he states.

In two weeks the Selects will play in the ASCICS Cup 2 tournament in Saskatoon, Brown reports. They will host their home tournament March 5 and 6.

The Yorkton Blitz Nitro emerged as tournament champions after winning the third game of the final match over RVC Ace. Brown congratulates the Blitz on their victory.

Final tournament Tier 1 standings showed Yorkton Blitz Nitro in first place, RVC Ace second, with Serious Impact third.
