The Yorkton stop on the Saskatchewan Men's Curling Tour landed over the weekend at the Yorkton Curling Club, the winners coming from Moose Jaw.

Mark Herbert of the winning team said it was a good weekend and added that he tries to make a trip back to Yorkton's Club every chance he gets.

"We make this one of our regular stops," he said adding that one of the reasons is that the ice is well kept.

"The ice was excellent," he said following their 6-2 win over Craig of Saskatoon.

He agreed that ideal ice can easily contribute to the win.

"Absolutely," he replied.

Teammate and native of Yorkton, Rob Auckland, said the win was just a matter of luck in terms of the way the draw worked out for them.

"We were lucky enough to get the bye," he told the paper.

"We were kind of lucky the way the draw worked."

He added that Team Craig out of Saskatoon made it a "good game in the final".

Both teams played well enough."

Auckland said that next up for the foursome is a trip to Swift Current.
