Prairie Wildfire hosts 170 taekwondo athletes

There were 170 taekwondo competitors who filled the Nexera Flexihall at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton on Saturday. It was the 19th annual Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge.

Competitors came from all over to take part in the Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge. These athletes came from Winnipeg and U.S.A.

There were 170 taekwondo competitors who filled the Nexera Flexihall at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton on Saturday.
It was the 19th annual Prairie Wildfire Taekwondo Challenge. Athletes travelled from as far as Edmonton, Thunder Bay and North Dakota.
Prairie Wildfire is a very athlete-centered event, and it gives multiple opportunities for the participants to refocus and perform again.
It also offers a positive environment from the mentored referees.
There were a number of special awards given at the competition. Most valuable referee was awarded to Jillian Gorsa of Winnipeg.
Most valuable black belt junior male was Zane Chopik from Kees Yorkton.
Most valuable black belt senior male was Hayden McNab from Premier, Manitou.
Most valuable black belt senior female was Kallie Buenekke from Keese Yorkton.  
Athletes from Kees Taekwondo Yorkton had a great showing at the competition, medaling in many divisions.

Black belt senior male heavy – first place to Shane Varjassy of Kees, second place to Sam Lohnes of Kees.
Mitey mite female beginner heavy – third place to Journey Langan of Kees.
Cadet female intermediate heavy – first place to Taylor Nash of Kees.
Mitey mite male beginner light – second place to Munroe Joyea of Kees.
Midget male beginner heavy – first place to Hunter Nash of Kees.    
Midget male beginner middle – third place to Corbin Shauf of Kees.
Cadet male intermediate middle – second place to Keegan Foreman of Kees.
Cadet male advanced light – first place to Brandon Novak of Kees.
Adult male intermediate heavy – third place to Brian Twardzik of Kees.
Pee wee male intermediate heavy – first place to Hayes Yanke of Kees, third place to Ethan Larsen of Kees.
