Sacred Heart acknowledges student athletes

On Monday, June 12, Sacred Heart High School held its spring sports banquet. This event takes place every year to recognize deserving athletes from curling, basketball, badminton and track and field. All award winners are listed below.

On Monday, June 12, Sacred Heart High School held its spring sports banquet. This event takes place every year to recognize deserving athletes from curling, basketball, badminton and track and field. All award winners are listed below. 

For the junior curling team, the Saint Sebastian award (sportsmanship) was given to Savannah Guy. The most valuable player was Alexis Popowich. 

In senior curling, the rookie of the year was Tamara Butchko. The most improved player was Tess Jendrasheske. The Saint Sebastian award went to Eliah Stephaniuk. And the most valuable player was Reese Kinaschuk. 

For the junior girls basketball team, the most improved player was Tea Rohatensky. The Saint Sebastian award went to Calina Tolentino. The MVP award went to two deserving players: Savannah Guy and Julia Glodoveza. 

In junior boys basketball, the most improved player was Alvin Aromin. The Saint Sebastian award went to Braydon Wasylyniuk. The MVP was Ryder Korczak. 

On the senior girls basketball team, the rookie of the year was Carley Ostafie. The most improved player was Erica Ford. The Saint Sebastian award went to Janeen Pellatt. And the MVP was Alexis Guy. 

In senior boys basketball, the rookie of the year was Michael Dobrowolski. The most improved player was Ethan Danchilla. The Saint Sebastian award went to Nathan Cochrane. The most valuable player was Noah Clarke. 

On the junior badminton team, the most improved athlete was Meagan Klingspon. The Saint Sebastian award went to Kyra Fogg. The MVP was Camryn Danchilla. 

In senior badminton, the rookie of the year was Ashton Shewchuk. The most improved player was Kyle Schmidt. The Saint Sebastian award was given to Jantz Sawatsky. And the MVP award was given to both Louis Shin and Austin Thomas.

Finally, in track and field, the rookie of the year was Camryn Danchilla. The most improved player was Charis Adefolarin. The Saint Sebastian award went to Kaitlyn Klemetski. And the most valuable player was Ashley Schrader. 

In addition to the awards, ten student athletes also received “greatest contribution to sports” recognition for the year. These athletes were Jairus Pellatt, Logan Rohatensky, Braydon Wasylyniuk, Camryn Danchilla, Tamara Butchko, Austin Thomas, Ashley Scrader, Nathan Cochrane, Tea Rohatensku and Allison Berge. These were tabulated from coach voting throughout the year.
