Matt Stackhouse signs with Calgary, while his mother Jenn and Tim Kearse the Colts Coach attend.

Matt Stackhouse officially signed with the Calgary Colts on the weekend.

After the local school year is complete, the Grade 12 student at Sacred Heart High School will head to Calgary for a season of football in the Prairie Football Conference.

Stackhouse make the Colts at a camp earlier this spring as kicker, but is also expected to see some laying time at receiver.

Whether as receiver or kicker, Stackhouse said after making the Colts he is starting to think about football more seriously. For example after some Junior time, he said he can now see football being a pathway to college.

And, beyond college there is the Canadian Football League.

“I’m starting to think about that every day now,” he said, adding “putting on a ‘Rider jersey … would be a dream come true.”
