Yorkton Regional High School is hosting soccer playoffs today (Saturday).
The Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association (SHSAA) event is the 5A regional playoffs for boys, with the top two teams from the region advancing on to Provincials in Swift Current Oct. 25 and 26.
Since Swift Current is hosting, their team has an automatic by into the Provincial tournament. Swift Current won their semi final game 8-0 over Weyburn, assuring that the team they face in the afternoon final will automatically advance to provincials.
The second semi final pitted the host Raiders against Moose Jaw Peacock, with Yorkton winning 5-3. The win put the Raiders into the event final, and assured them a spot at provincials.
In the final this afternoon the Raiders and Swift Current Colts were 1-1 at the half.
The Colts would score two unanswered goals in the second half for a 3-1 victory, but again both teams advance to provincials with Swift Current having a better seed.
