Xerox Terriers lose two in opening weekend

The Yorkton Xerox Terriers began their season in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League last weekend. The team played two games on home ice at the Farrell Agencies Arena, but the home ice would not prove to be an advantage to the team.

The Xerox Terriers faced off against the Weyburn Crescent Red Wings in their home opener on Saturday.

The Yorkton Xerox Terriers began their season in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League last weekend. 

The team played two games on home ice at the Farrell Agencies Arena, but the home ice would not prove to be an advantage to the team. 

On Saturday, they fell 3-1 to the Weyburn Crescent Red Wings after a close game. 

The Red Wings started the scoring off in the first period, but Rhys Maksimow would tie it up in the second period for Yorkton. 

The Red Wings managed to get one goal in the third to break away with a lead. In the last minute, Yorkton pulled their goalie in hopes of tying the game, but they couldn’t capitalize from the 6-5 advantage.

Weyburn was able to score on the empty net to bring the score to 3-1. 

On Sunday, the Xerox Terriers played the Estevan TS&M Bruins. The Bruins came away with the win, 6-3. 

Yorkton started the scoring off in the first period, with one from Reid Pfeifer. But Estevan responded with three goals before the period wrapped up. 

In the second, Carter Dereniwsky scored for Yorkton. By the end of the second period, the score was 6-2 for Estevan. 

In the third, Yorkton would add one goal onto their final score. Rhys Maksimow scored, rounding out the 6-3 score. 

The Xerox Terriers will play in Yorkton again on Friday, Oct. 6 at 8:00 p.m., when they face the Prince Albert Venice House Pirates at the F.A.A.
