This will be a memorable November for Josh  Haczkewicz. Part of the provincial championship winning YRHS Raider Gridders, the young football player now has a big opportunity. Haczkewicz has been selected to be part of the second-annual Nissan All-Canadian TITAN team, which comprises 70 notable players from 49 communities across Canada. Haczkewicz is the only player from Yorkton to join the squad.

Players were submitted by their coaches, Roby Sharpe in the case of Haczkewicz, and the submissions were reviewed by a four-person celebrity judging panel consisting of Brodie Lawson, CFL Host; Bryan Baeumler, HGTV Host; Jesse Lumsden, former CFL player and three-time Olympian; and Travis Lulay, former CFL player and BC Lions Business Operations.

Players selected will travel to Calgary to meet and train with their peers, play in an exhibition game on November 23 at Shouldice Athletic Park, and finally attend the 107th Grey Cup at McMahon Stadium.

This will be Haczkewicz’ first time at the Grey Cup, and he’s excited to be able to take in the game and do it with a big group of like-minded people.

“It will be cool to meet all of these guys from around Canada who also enjoy football,” said Haczkewicz.

Beyond the fun, Haczkewicz sees this as an opportunity. The Grade 12 student sees the chance to play in front of people like Lulay and Lumsden, and as he intends to continue his football career, he hopes to catch the eye of scouts and coaches.

“It’s a good opportunity to show off my talents, and show I can be with the top 70 guys.”

It’s going to be a memorable November for Haczkewicz, and he’s excited to be part of this team.

“We just won provincials, so coming off of that I was really excited. Now this is just the cherry on top.”
