The core of this year’s squad won gold in last year’s U12 division and they repeated the same result this year in the U13 division.
U13 Germany was in a group of four teams with tournament play beginning with a match-up against Team Chile. Germany won with a decisive 8-3. They went on to win against Scotland 15-0 and England 9-0.
Germany met with England in the final on Thursday, Apr. 13 where they had a hard fought win, scoring in the last two minutes of the game to take the win 4-3.
Many Yorkton players of various age categories participated in this year’s World Cup tournament including a U12 boys’ team Germany, as well as men’s team Netherlands.
The Yorkton U13 squad is looking forward to fielding a team in this year’s Premier Soccer League (PSL). This provincial league play begins in May and continues into July.
