Yorkton Yankees claim third SESBL title

The Yorkton E&S Yankees are champions of the South East Senior Baseball League again. The team defeated the Canora Supers in a best-of-five series, sweeping the Supers in three games.

The Yorkton E&S Yankees are champions of the South East Senior Baseball League again. 

The team defeated the Canora Supers in a best-of-five series, sweeping the Supers in three games. The championship game was played on Monday night at Jubilee Park and the Yankees won by a huge score of 19-1.

This was their third consecutive league title, and fourth win in the past five years.

In game one of the series, the Yorkton Yankees won 17-4, and in game two the score was a close 15-14. 

Game three was a slow start, but the Yankees came alive in the third inning when they scored seven runs. 

The Yankees had an impressive season, placing first in the league of 10 teams. They had a 14-0-1 record in the regular season. Their playoff record was 7-1. 

The Yankees’ season isn’t over yet. Next up on their schedule is the 2017 Baseball Sask Senior AA Tier 2 Provincial championships, which they are hosting at Jubilee Park from August 11-13. 

Their first game will be on Friday, Aug 11 at 7 p.m. against the Cabri River Rats.
