MELFORT — A Melfort Mustangs player – and former Tisdale Trojan – has died in a rollover.

The Mustangs confirmed Dylan Ashe’s death in a social media post on Sept. 20.

“From our entire organization we would like to send our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Ashe family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.”

The Trojans also posted conoldences on their Facebook page about the 18-year-old defenseman from Warman.

“He was a joy to watch on the ice and for those who had the pleasure of knowing him off the ice, his kind heart and fun loving attitude were what made him one of a kind.”

Saskatchewan RCMP confirmed there was a rollover at 7 a.m. Sept. 20 on Highway 35 approximately 17 kilometers northeast of White Fox. They did not release a name, but did say an 18-year-old male from Warman was found deceased at the scene.

Della Ashe, Dylan Ashe’s mother, said on Facebook her heart was broken after hearing about the accident.

“He was the most easy-going, fun loving, and never in a rush for anything type of guy. He loved his family and truck. Oh that truck, boy did he work hard on it.”

Ashe was set to travel to Melfort Sept. 22 to start his second season with the Mustangs.

“He was looking forward to seeing all his hockey buddies,” Della Ashe said. “I am comforted knowing he was doing everything he loved to do, but unfortunately never fulfilled his dreams here, and now he will always be in my dreams.”

Ashe played with the Tisdale Trojans in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and with the Melfort Mustangs in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
