The Yorkton Cardinals took on Swift Current tonight, with a strong showing, especially given that much of this year's roster only arrived in the last day or so without having had the chance to play with -- or even meet -- their teammates yet. Swift Current won 12-7 by the bottom of the ninth, but it was by no means a shutout.

"Well, I'm really excited about our lineup, and our top three hitters just flew in last night," said head coach Robbie Dombrowski.

"Like I mentioned last week, we were very short handed, and three of our best players are now here, so I'm very excited about that, and one of them is going to pitch. We've got arms coming in and guys that can swing it."

The Cards dominated the 5th inning, with four runs, showing a sample of things to come. This season promises to be an exciting one, with a strong showing tonight despite the setbacks.
